In this step, we will focus on pages, as they form the basic framework of your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to create a new page?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. In the WordPress panel, go to the&nbsp;<strong>Pages \u2192 Add New<\/strong>&nbsp;tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Give the page a title, e.g. \u201cAbout us\u201d or \u201cContact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Enter the content in the block editor \u2013 you can add headings, text, photos, galleries, buttons, and other elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Click&nbsp;<strong>Publish<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 the page will immediately become visible online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t have to create the entire website right away \u2013 WordPress allows you to edit it at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What pages are worth having at the start?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is the most common set of pages for a simple business or personal website:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>home page \u2013 a welcome message and brief information about what you do<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>about me\/about us \u2013 a few words about yourself, your history, values<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>offer \/ services \u2013 description of the products or services you offer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contact \u2013 contact details, form, map (e.g. from Google Maps)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>privacy policy \u2013 mandatory if you collect any data (e.g. via a form)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a blog, the following will also be useful: Blog \/ Posts, Categories, Archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to create a navigation menu?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After creating several pages, it is a good idea to organize them into a clear menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to\u00a0<strong>Appearance \u2192 Menu<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Create a new menu<\/strong>, give it a name (e.g., \u201cMain menu\u201d)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add pages from the list on the left and arrange them by dragging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Menu settings<\/strong>\u00a0section, select that this is to be the main menu of the site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your menu will appear automatically in the header of the page \u2013 its exact position depends on the theme you are using. These are what affect how WordPress works behind the scenes, how it looks to users, and how it is perceived by search engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without proper configuration, even an aesthetically pleasing website can be unintuitive or difficult to find on Google. That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s worth taking a moment to configure the basic settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Website title and slogan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go to&nbsp;<strong>Settings \u2192 General<\/strong>. Set the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>website title \u2013 e.g., the name of your company or website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>slogan \u2013 a short description of what you do<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This information appears in the browser bar and in search results. Make sure it is concise and accurate \u2013 it is the first thing a potential visitor will see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Home page \u2013 static or blog?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Settings \u2192 Reading tab, you can decide what will be displayed on the home page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have two options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 latest posts \u2013 if you want to run a blog, the default setting will be appropriate,<br>\u2013 static page \u2013 if you are creating a company website, for example, select a previously created home page and a separate blog page (if you want to run a blog later).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a crucial moment \u2013 it determines what the user will see when they enter your website address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Link structure \u2013 friendly URLs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The default form of addresses in WordPress (e.g.&nbsp;<code>yourwebsite.com\/?p=123<\/code>) looks unprofessional. Change this in Settings \u2192 Permalinks by selecting the \u201cPost name\u201d option. If you don&#8217;t run a blog or don&#8217;t want to moderate comments, it&#8217;s a good idea to disable this feature. Simply go to&nbsp;<strong>Settings \u2192 Discussion<\/strong>&nbsp;and uncheck the option to allow comments on new content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This isn&#8217;t just a matter of aesthetics \u2013 you&#8217;ll also reduce the risk of spam and unwanted messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After making the above settings, click&nbsp;<strong>Save Changes<\/strong>&nbsp;at the bottom of each configuration page.
